God writes a love letter to us every single day. We see it everywhere, but especially in the sky, which is always changing colors and looks like a portrait some days. He is the ultimate artist and author of all creation, including us.

God is better than any award-winning author. He is writing a beautiful redemption story throughout all of eternity, and He’s writing an amazing story with your life. 

Have you ever stopped to remember what your life was like before Jesus? If He hadn’t rescued you, your story would have looked really different.

I think this is often most apparent in drastic stories of transformation, when God rescues people from addiction, depression or suicide. But your story doesn’t have to be dramatic to be a story of rescue. We are all sinners. All of our stories carry smudges of some kind—places where we’ve fallen short, made the wrong choice or regret a moment of indecision. All of these moments—even the ones we wish we could take back—make us who we are. And our God is the only one who can make all the pieces of our lives fit together into a novel that resolves in redemption. Chapter by chapter, He’s weaving our stories together with the threads of His grace and mercy. He’s defining every sentence by who He is, not by who we are.

Story, I could’ve had a really different story

But You came down from Heaven to restore me

Forever saved my life

It’s in the pages of His story—in His Word—where we discover that His love is unmatched. No one loves us like Jesus. John 15:13 says, “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” We are friends of God, and His sacrificial love is where our story begins.
