Angels For You

DAY 4 OF 5

Some angels have names

All who are reading this, have a name. When you were born, your parents gave you a specific name that was put on your birth certificate. This is the name that people call you to differentiate from everyone else who also has a name.

Out of all of the angels in the Bible, only two actually had names: Gabriel and Michael. We meet them for the first time in the book of Daniel. As we talked about in previous days, these angels had very important jobs.

Gabriel’s job was to visit Mary and give her an important announcement, “You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.” Gabriel appeared during one of the most significant moments in Salvation history: the birth of Jesus.

We also talked about the army of angels. Michael was called “one of the chief princes” as he was the one who lead an army of angels against a Dragon who wanted to destroy the promised Savior. Michael’s job was important because he defeated Satan and the child’s life was preserved.

The birth of Jesus is not only an announcement of good news but it also marked the defeat of God’s enemy, Satan. The names of Gabriel and Michael are important because the good news they announced and defended changed the course of history forever.

You have a name and you also have an important job. You have been specifically chosen for such a time as this and the legacy you leave with your name can change the world forever. What legacy do you want to leave with your name?
