The AscentSample
EYES FIXED ON JESUS
This Psalm starts with the words “I lift my eyes to you...”
In life, our eyes can be focused on a whole lot of different things. But we can learn to fix our eyes on the One who holds the universe in His hand, the only One that we know can help us, and acknowledge that it’s only from Him that we get what we need for life. It is only from Him that we get our breath. It is only from Him that we get our daily provisions. It is only from Him that we get the opportunity to live this day.
It is a daily posture, not just for when things are going wrong. Our eyes fixed on Christ, knowing who He is and knowing that He is the only thing that we need.

About this Plan
The Ascent… is an invitation to climb. It’s an invitation to proximity. It’s an invitation to intimacy. In the Old Testament there are 15 psalms of ascent. They are songs that Israel sang on their way to celebrate God at festivals. They express amazing grace and they quiet anxious fears. They are songs that provide courage and support as we travel the road of faith and discover who we are and what God’s called us to. It has been said that the Psalms of Ascent are like placing your feet in the footprints of others and reminding ourselves to be moved again; to keep walking forward in the direction of God. This devotional is an invitation to lift our eyes and to ascend the heights; to becoming Jesus’ climbing companions.
