I Will FightSample
DAY ONE:
Generous people are: GROWING
I recently left the airport in a major city and got in a taxi to head to a meeting. I asked the man behind the wheel how long he'd been a cab driver. He said, "When I first started, the plan was 2 years...this August will be my 26th year driving this cab." I said, "How did 2 turn to 26?" I'll never forget what he said... He goes, "I just kind of got stuck." In other words, he stopped growing.
I'm not sure about you, but I don't want to be that person who stops growing. In the Bible, there was a church that was growing in all kinds of ways. The apostle Paul said to them, “I want you to grow also in this gracious act of giving.” (2 Cor. 8:7) Paul was saying grow in your faith, knowledge and enthusiasm, but make sure you're also growing in your giving.
Maybe you’re in a season of your family growing, your career growing or a certain relationship growing. There is nothing more exciting than growth, especially being a part of a growing Church. Usually when we talk about our church growing, we are talking about growing in attendance. I love that God also calls us to be growing in salvation, volunteers, creativity and influence.
There is no doubt in my mind that we’ll continue to grow as a church. Not just in people, but passion. Not just the number of leaders we raise up, but also the number of locations we start all over the world. But for us to continue growing as a church, our hearts have to be growing toward generosity.
Have you seen what you give to others grow over the years?
Have you seen your interests in other people increase?
What’s one way you can grow in your passion for God’s house today?
Let’s be growing and generous people.
