Living for God: Devotions From Time of Grace

DAY 1 OF 7

Morning is best Okay, okay, God doesn’t keep business hours. He is available for worship, praise, and prayer 24/7. There is no bad time. But, forgive me for saying so, morning is best. King David thought so too. “In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation” (Psalm 5:3). Here’s why: through prayers of repentance and the comfort of the gospel, you can start your day not only with a hot shower but with a rinsed spirit. When you start your day certain of the forgiveness of your sins, every morning is fresh and new. When you commit your day’s agenda to the Lord, you can then trust that he will guide and shape it according to what fits into his master plan and what is good for you. When you start your day with the Lord, you can get his help right away instead of waiting until you are burdened, frustrated, and exhausted by trying to do everything yourself. And when you start your day with the Lord, you will see the people around you as blessings, God’s instruments, in serving him and accomplishing the mission for which he made you in the first place.
