When is it Pruning?

Day Four– Your response

How would you react to the need for surgery to remove a painful and limiting condition if it repairs the condition and give you greater strength and mobility? Most people would say go ahead with it, until they learn that the pain they will go though after surgery with physical therapy and such is more painful and limiting than the original condition. Then they rethink their initial answer. But when they learn that the surgery will give them what they are hoping for after the temporary post surgery pain is over, they say go ahead with it. 

What changed? It is because they got the big picture and were willing to pay the price for what they had hoped for. They were willing to trust their surgeon’s promises. It is the same with our attitude when we are going through the pain of pruning. Will you chose to get the big picture and trust your Father with His skillful surgery in your life, or will you fret like there is no rhyme or reason for your pain?

When we are being pruned, we often whimper and complain like there will be no end to it. We cannot see the reason or benefit of the pruning pain that we are going through, even though we are assured by God that it is temporary and it will have tremendous benefit to our life. What is peculiar is that we are more willing to trust a human surgeon with his promises that we will be better after the initial pain, but are less willing to trust God when He gives us the same promise? 

So ask yourself. “Who do I trust the most….God or man?” When you are being tested with a pruning process, you can be assured by God’s own word that it is temporary, and it will provide a great benefit to your life when it is over. Will you believe in Him during this time and trust His end game for you?
