Love God Greatly - Jonah

DAY 2 OF 28

God is always in control of the weather

When the sailors saw the big storm that raged and threatened the integrity of their ship, they began to cry out to their gods for help. The problem was that none of their gods could help them. It was God, the Creator of the Universe, the God of the Bible, who hurled the wind and started the storm - and He was the only one able to stop it.

God is in control of the weather. He is in control of the wind and the storms. “He will give the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the later rain, that you may gather in your grain and your wine and your oil.” (Deuteronomy 11:14). There is also no storm in your life that is not under God´s command.

Most of us find ourselves moving into a storm, in the middle of a storm, or just coming out of a storm. What do you do when storms rage in your life? What do you do when thick black clouds are the only thing you can see on the horizon? Do you cry out to God? Our Mighty God is in control not only of the weather, but also of every tiny detail of our lives.

Lord, help me remember You are in control of my life. I want You to be my first option when storms come. Let me be a light for those who are in the middle of the sea without hope and help them arrive to the safe port we have in You. Amen.

About this Plan

Love God Greatly - Jonah

Regardless if we are an outsider, like the people of Nineveh, or an insider, like Jonah, to the Kingdom of God, the book of Jonah is a reminder that God goes to great lengths to demonstrate His grace and mercy to all. Be encouraged as you read this powerful story of God’s relentless grace and mercy, and may you never forget that no one is beyond redemption. May we all seek to love the loveless in our lives.
