James. A 21-day reading plan by Doxa Deo.Sample
James 1:19-20 (ESV) Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
Quick to hear, slow to speak. Listening seems to be a lost art. Listening. Truly listening.
Oftentimes we listen only until we start formulating our response – and then impatiently wait for the person to stop talking so we can continue speaking. Are you listening to God? Truly listening?
James 1:21 (ESV) Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
When we hear the Word, and embrace it, it has the capacity to bring about total transformation in our lives.
Mark 4:20 MSG "But the seed planted in the good earth represents those who hear the Word, embrace it, and produce a harvest beyond their wildest dreams."
Reflection:
What is God saying to you now?
In which area of your life do you need to embrace the Word and align yourself with it?
