Power Read The Bible In 60 Days With Jeff Andersonნიმუში

Day 58
THE END IS NEAR
[Scheduled Reading: 1 & 2 Thessalonians; 1 & 2 Timothy; Titus; Philemon]
It’s official - we’re near the end. Just three more days.
I'll begin my wrap-up now. Because when “Day 60” hits, it’s Revelation… and then it’s over.
While Revelation signals the end of the Bible story, we get plenty of hints of this ending in Paul’s letters.
Like the Revelation of Jesus Christ to John, Paul must have also had some spectacular visions from God. (He hints at these visions in subtle ways throughout his books. See 2 Corinthians 12:2 for an example.)
In 1 Thessalonians 4 & 5, Paul speaks of the rapture… and the Day of the Lord. And read closely 2 Thessalonians Chapter 1. Notice the theme of angels, flaming fire, judgment, punishment, destruction.
Paul was motivated by the end times events, and wants us to be also.
End times are a reason to persevere, to hold to godly living, to live out God's calling on our lives, to guard our doctrine, to beware of false teachers, to run for the prize (all Paul's words, not mine).
As you finish reading Paul’s letters, take note of his sense of urgency. Paul speaks as if the end times are near… just as Jesus did.
