DAY 19 OF 31

Suffering

We all suffer. The Greek word suffer or “pathema” means the capacity and privilege to experience deep feeling like agony or passion. Don’t ever qualify yourself as an expert on suffering or think that you’ve been through more than someone else and therefore know better. You are judging someone else’s outsides with your insides. This is a spirit of bitterness. Are you making your suffering all about you? When suffering becomes all about you, you will take down everyone around you. When you give glory to God in your suffering, you will pull yourself and everyone around you out of the pit instead of going down. When I let Jesus walk with me through fiery trials, what I remember most is not the suffering but knowing a God so great and so good, that my life was forever changed not because of my pain but because of the Strength of His Presence. Let Him turn your tears into an internal, eternal joy that gives your heart hope.

Memory Verse

“It is I. Don’t be afraid.” John 6:20.

Declaration Prayer

I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.
The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.

There’s one Person you can count on in life.  Jesus is there for you in everything.  We want to belong, be loved and know we’re not alone in what we face.  The worst part of life isn’t having problems – it’s being alone in the problem.  You’re never alone.  Jesus is with you always.
