Love God Greatly Truth Over Lies

DAY 3 OF 41

Read: Jeremiah 17:9-10; 1 Corinthians 3:18, Ezekiel 36:26

SOAP: Jeremiah 17:9-10

Have you ever walked into a carnival fun house? Within the attraction is the wall of mirrors where you can prove to yourself that deception comes in many forms. By the mere bending of light, the way you look changes drastically.

Scripture warns us that the heart is deceitful above all things. Our emotions are not to be trusted. Yet, how often do we react according to how we feel at the time? Think about even the small choices you made based off emotion this week. Chances are, if given a second chance, you would rethink some of your decisions.

Our Heavenly Father understands that we sometimes fall short. Because He loves us, He redeems our wayward hearts. Through Jesus, we have forgiveness when we deceive ourselves and our relationship with God is restored. God gives us a new heart and allows us to learn from our mistakes, so we may grow in wisdom.

How have you relied on your emotions instead of facts? Did your emotions lead you astray?

Father God, thank You for giving us a new heart through Christ. Help me to trust in Your wisdom to guide me rather than my own feelings. Thank You for how You continue to love me even when I struggle. You are a good and gracious God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
