Day Five – God’s Promises in the Midst of Childlessness
One of the most encouraging things you can do during this season is to remember and meditate upon God’s promises. The Bible is full of promises on which we can stake our hope, promises that offer comfort. In the midst of childlessness, we need something strong in which to anchor our hope and trust.
When our heart is torn into pieces.
When the Lord hasn’t answered our questions.
When we don’t know if everything will be okay.
When the Lord hasn’t promised to work in the ways that we want.
When the pain threatens to overshadow our vision of the Lord.
I encourage you to hold on to the Lord’s promises to us in Scripture:
He promises to be present (Matt. 28:20).
He promises us His love (Rom. 5:8).
He promises us His grace (Psalm 86:15).
He promises to draw us up (Psalm 30:1)
He promises to sustain us (Psalm 55:22).
He promises us His aid (Hebrews 13:6).
He promises steadfastness (Psalm 31:7).
He promises provision (Philippians 4:19).
If you are walking through a dark night of the soul, wrestling in prayer and crying out to God, you can cling to the precious promises of God. Put His promises to good use. Hold them up to your Father and say, “Lord, do as you have said.” It is His absolute delight to respond to the cries and prayers of His children and fulfill His promises to us. What He’s promised, He will do.
Search Scripture for these promises, fill your mind and heart with them. Memorize them. Meditate upon them. Then, rest in God’s promises.
