A Dad's Prayer For His Children

DAY 1 OF 7

KNOWING CHRIST

Today’s Prayer:  “God we pray that our child will come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and know him as Christ their Lord.”

Knowing Christ is the most important thing you can pass on to your children. The world will offer your child many things, both good and bad, but the most significant gift to them is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. In 1 Corinthians 2:2, Paul says “For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” Let's pause there for a second and take inventory of your thought life over the past 5 minutes. Maybe you thought of a few upcoming projects due, needing to fill up your car with gas, or an important appointment later today. But this was how Paul lived. He wanted to “know nothing except Jesus Christ.” What an example!

They say we spend about 30 minutes a day without distractions on the average weekday with our school-age children. Most of that being around bedtime reading or meals. On weekends they say about 3 hours, over two those days. The point is, for most people, there is very limited time to spend with your children. Let’s make the time we do have with them about pointing them to Christ. Let’s focus the things in their rooms, the toys they select, the books they read, the shows they watch, and what they see around the house to help them to KNOW CHRIST.

UNCOMMEN Challenge: What changes could you make in your home or daily routine to help encourage your children to know and walk with Christ?

About this Plan

A Dad's Prayer For His Children

Now more than ever, the world is in need of strong fathers who love their families well. God provides the strength to those who seek Him and call upon His name. Being a father is a sacred responsibility because we reflect God’s love to our children. Men are called to lead and serve their families, and a very tangible way to do that is to pray over your children. God does amazing things in our lives when we ask for His help. But sometimes finding the words to pray over your kids can be challenging. This study includes seven things from Scripture that you can pray over your kids for each day of the week. Join us as we provide guidance and daily encouragement for great prayers based on Scripture over the next seven days.
