Where There is a “Will”

Reflect:

Have you ever been so depressed, so discouraged you feel like you cannot get out of bed in the morning? Do your days sometimes feel like you are merely existing while God is nowhere? Are there days when it seems like the world is against you? In our days walking this earth, we will go through seasons where we feel like the dark valley is never ending, it is what we choose to do during these seasons that are going to affect our growth.

The writer of Psalm 42 understood lament all too well. He says 3 times between Psalms 42 and 43, “Why am I so depressed, why is this turmoil within me?’ It is natural to question our circumstances, but notice the words he says next; the writer says “I will”. Regardless of how we are feeling, we need to remember the “I will” in our lives because we can’t trust our feelings.

When you are in a season of struggle, take the time to follow through with the “I will” statements. When you wake up in the morning, remind yourself “I will” begin my day with prayer. When you are struggling, remember to say “I will” praise God regardless of my circumstances. Remember to say, “I will spend time in the Word of God.” God is good sisters; His grace is sufficient and the valley is only temporary

Pray:

God, you are so good. Thank you that you are sovereign over my life and my circumstances are only temporary. When I am feeling down, please help me to remember the “I will” statements, so that I may press closer into you. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Your Turn:

How do you handle things when circumstances get tough? Spend time in Psalm 42 and 43 this week.
It would be a privilege to pray for you!
