The Good Shepherd

Before becoming a Christian, a Muslim woman dreamed she was on a path with her children. The path came to a fork, and she had to decide which way to go. She started to lead them down the path nearest her, but a man dressed in white and wielding a shepherd’s crook appeared in front of her and used the crook to guide them all onto the other path. She had never heard of ‘the Good Shepherd’ or God even being associated with such a humble occupation.

Upon seeing these verses and realizing it was Jesus Himself who had been in her dream, she was deeply touched by how He cared so much about the destinies of her and her children that He would intervene to lead them toward his flock. She is now of “this fold” and knows His voice too.

How precious it is to have the Good Shepherd to lead and guide us. He doesn’t turn us out to survive on our own and does not shy from leaving the 99 to go after the one who wanders. We can draw so much assurance from the knowledge that He knows His own and we may know Him.

Prayer

Thank you, Lord, that you direct our paths and that as a shepherd protects his sheep, you also lay down your life for us. I pray for more Muslims to discover you as the Good Shepherd seeking to bring them into your fold. May they be impacted by your commitment to pursue those who are lost. Please bring more people out of Islam and into your flock today, God!
