You Already Have - a 3-Day Devotional With Andrea Olsonサンプル
“God, you’re such a safe and powerful place to find refuge! You’re a proven help in time of trouble – more than enough and always available whenever I need you.”
I have a Rock, I have a Shelter
I know the One holding the answers
I lack for nothing, all I’ll ever need
You already have
I have a peace, I have a Savior
I have a hope, and this is my anchor
I lack for nothing, all I’ll ever need
You already have
Lyrics from “You Already Have”
Now, more than ever, it seems like there is a great need for truth. We all need something sure to hold to with confidence. There is much deception and divisiveness in this life, and it’s often hard to know what to believe. But there is one place we can always go for certain truth, and that’s the Word of God. In good times, in devastation, and everywhere in between - because the truth of scripture is a light that helps us discern what is true.
In this world, we have an enemy. And he wants nothing more than to see us stumble. But we know the One who holds the ultimate power, and we have access to that power! Our greatest weapon is speaking (or singing) TRUTH out loud whenever we face trials of any kind. It completely obliterates the enemy’s schemes, and it floods our souls with truth. I wrote the song, You Already Have based on Psalm 46, and it has been just that for me in recent seasons - a light of truth in the darkness.
As a family, we have been through some very long seasons of waiting. At times, it’s felt like we were walking in the dark. Have you been there too? Maybe you are right now. I’ve often had to force myself to recite what I know to be true about God in those times. Because in the depths of the night, it’s tough to remember truth. Darkness is deceptive. All too quickly, we can become irrational and forget how things look in the light. We may let our thoughts start spiraling about what could be. But, when we open the Scriptures and speak truth, it’s like turning the lights on. And when we run our circumstances through that light, we are given the ability to discern with clarity.
So, whatever season you find yourself in today, I encourage you to run your circumstances through the light of truth. Grab a pen and your journal and write down what you know to be true about God. Then, write down how you have seen evidence of those truths in your current circumstances. I encourage you to use that as a prayer of thanksgiving and a reminder that God is always working, even when we don’t see it. If you are struggling with where to start, begin by reading the truths found in Psalm 46:1.
Finally, always remember, there is absolutely nothing we could face that would take our safe and powerful God by surprise or that would cause him to scramble. Your season of waiting does not mean God isn’t able to come to your rescue. It is his perfect patience as he prepares you for his perfect timing.
