Love God Greatly: To Do Justice, To Love Kindness, To Walk Humblyサンプル
I can imagine Micah shouting, “Hear! Pay attention! The Lord is coming as a witness against you.” It’s as if Israel was on trial and the attorney had remembered all their faults. The verses in 2 Kings 17 give us the reasons why Israel went into exile, and Micah recalls in a detailed list how they had feared other gods, served idols, made wicked things…the list goes on and on.
The Israelites had broken every rule given to them by God and sinned in the most awful ways. And yet, verse 13 reminds us how God warned Israel and Judah over and over again “by every prophet and every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my statutes.” Micah was one of those prophets sent to Judah to warn them about the impending judgment of God.
These verses are a beautiful reminder that the Lord is merciful. Our list of sins may be as big as the sins of the people of Israel and Judah. Yet, He gave them opportunities to repent, in the same way He offers us new mercies every morning. Let's stop wasting the opportunities God gives us and start living according to His Word.
Heavenly Father, forgive me for my sins. I thank You because, in Christ, all my sins have been forgiven. Thank You for Your mercy and Your grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
