Be normal and trust God to give you the words

If sharing about Jesus isn’t a normal thing for you, Sharing can be a scary thing. But it doesn’t have to be.

Stop for a moment and think about the way you start everyday conversations with anyone. Whether it’s a conversation with someone at the supermarket, or the person behind the counter at the fuel station; a friendly hello, a quick-witted joke and a fun remark are a sure fire way to break the ice, and start a conversation.

You don't have to start a conversation about God by going in guns blazing, that’s actually really weird. So, unless you feel God has told you to specifically say something up front, there’s no need to start off on the wrong foot.

Ease your way into it. Start a normal conversation, and show interest in the person. Allow the conversation to go where it needs to go. They may have a need you can offer to pray for, or you may be able to share in a very natural way something that God is doing in your life, that speaks hope into a situation. God is the one who sends us, so he won't leave you stranded. Moses got tongue tied and he didn't feel eloquent, he even had a speech impediment; that doesn't matter to God, He will give you the words to say.

Be kind, friendly and interested in the other person, picking up on social queues — if your manner can’t convince them that they’re loved and that they matter as a person, your words won’t either.

Perhaps a conversation you've had connects perfectly to a video? Could the conversation go further by you sending them a link? It can be a great talking point for opening up a conversation. Why not try sharing a video from the yesHEis app to start or continue your conversation about Jesus…
