Hearing And Obeying - Disciple Makers Series #2Sýnishorn
Baptism is Connecting
When we are baptised, we connect with Jesus, His death and the new life He gives. When He was baptised, it was to connect with mankind and our brokenness. We could not get out of our broken condition; God knew this was the only way to do it. Remember that when we face failures and shame, Jesus connects with us in that condition – He knows it, He connects with us in it, and He brings us out of it.
The Holy Spirit is tied closely into baptism. He came and dwelt with Jesus through this time when Jesus connected with mankind. It is important to know this. It was through the power of the Spirit that Jesus did everything He did on this earth. It is our example, our model, and our pattern to follow.
Time to Pray
Father, You were pleased with Jesus when He connected with us. You are pleased with us when we connect with Jesus. You gave Jesus the Holy Spirit to fulfil His task and You give us the Holy Spirit to complete the tasks You give us. Today, I connect afresh with Jesus – He is my life. Today, I trust Your Spirit to guide me, to strengthen me and to empower me to overcome every challenge and problem. Give me a listening ear to Your Spirit. Give me courage to connect with Jesus when I fail or struggle because He will get out of it and put me back on the right path of life. In Jesus’ name Amen.

About this Plan
Matthew writes to God’s people and walks them on a journey that will take them from where they are to be Disciple Makers. This is the 2nd of 27 devotional plans walking us through the book of Matthew. Hearing God speak or doing what God requires is more difficult than we realise – because life can be complicated. Watch how people do it.
