Feeling Better: Devotions From Time Of Grace

DAY 3 OF 31

My Body: I'm sick

Adam and Eve surely had no idea that their mad experiment would go so horribly wrong. They could not possibly have imagined that being disconnected from God would mean being connected to diabetes, HIV, strokes, and congestive heart failure.

We can't even see the viruses and bacteria that assault us. They invade silently, do their evil replication without a sound, and by the time we notice that something is wrong, they number in the millions. Has sickness or disease touched your home? Has it just been the usual childhood stuff--colds, flu, and chicken pox--or have you tasted some of the nastier illnesses, like lupus, autism, cerebral palsy, or cancer?

How's the benefit package in your health insurance? Do you have dental? optical? Jesus has by far the best health plan in the universe. "Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits--[He] forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases" (Psalm 103:2,3).

Jesus' insurance plan has two main benefits: forgiveness of our sins, which takes away any reason whatsoever for us to see our illnesses as punishments from God, and healing.

Just remember this: healing comes only from God.

Are you sick? Relax. Jesus is going to heal you--either on earth or once and for all in heaven. You win either way.
