30 Little Things: The Book of Genesis

DAY 14 OF 30

Keeping promises.

A promise is a big thing. When a promised is made, it must be fulfilled, otherwise people will get hurt. If our mom promised us that she would bake our favorite cheesecake today and she got stuck in her office all day, we would feel disappointed because we have certainly been looking forward for that cheesecake. It is the same when it comes to God's promises. God had promised Abraham that He would grant them descendants. And yet it was not until Abraham was 100 years old that his wife, Sarah, gave birth to their son, Isaac. Abraham and Sarah were both old and logically, they were not biologically fit to be giving births and nursing babies. However, to God, nothing is impossible and He always keeps His promises.

Maybe God have not answered our prayers until today and it is making us feel discouraged. If that's the case, don't worry! God always keep His word exactly as He had promised in His own perfect timing. Look at Abraham. Did he even think it was possible for him and Sarah to have a kid when they're already as old as 100 and 90 years old? No. But that certainly didn't stop God from fulfilling His promises, did it?
