Activating Your Prophetic Promise

Jesus explained in Luke 17:21 (KJV), “Behold, the kingdom is within you.” This means that God’s abode is not some earthly external edifice or physical structure. Every single promise in God’s Word has been given to us from eternity. Through the power of prayer, you can bring heaven to earth. Jesus taught the disciples to pray in Matthew 6:10, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” When the Holy Spirit makes you aware of His good plans and purpose for your future, you can begin to pray those things into being.

Understanding God’s prophetic word over your life is key to walking in that Word. After you understand God’s promises, then it’s necessary to abide in Him, according to John chapter 15. To abide means to continue, to remain, and to be consistent in following His instructions and ways. Not only must we abide in Him, but His Word must abide in us. This occurs by reading, studying, and meditating on the Holy Scriptures. I read, study, and meditate on the Word not out of obligation but because I love God and want to be in relationship with Him.

John 15:7 says, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” Abiding in the Father activates God’s future promise and causes it to manifest in your present. It’s time that you understand your prophetic nature. You’ve been called to speak forth the words of God on the earth. What you say in accordance with the Word of God is backed by heaven. The Bible reveals that “the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” (Revelation 19:10).

How can you partner with God to unlock your prophetic future? First, fully submit and surrender your life, desires, and path to the Lord. When you do this, it allows God to flow fully through you, unhindered. Next, it takes faith to prophesy, to see in the spiritual realm, or even to hear from God. Increase your faith by reading, reciting, and hearing the Word. Finally, by obeying God and following His instructions in the natural, He will do that which is above and beyond your ability—the supernatural.
