Learning to Practice the Sabbath

DAY 2 OF 5

An Invitation

Jesus, in His gentle, revolutionary style, was known for flipping the script, showing His people (and us) that the Sabbath isn't about ticking boxes or following rules just because. Sabbath is a gift, tailored to bring us joy, rest, and a slice of heaven right here on Earth.

Jesus wasn't throwing out the Law or dismissing what came before. Rest isn’t just a nice suggestion. It’s a need that’s built into our DNA by the One who made us.

God knows we're better humans, parents, partners, and friends when we're well-rested and spiritually connected. Sabbath helps us anchor ourselves and our families in what truly matters — connecting deeply with each other and our Creator, refilling our cups so we can pour into others.

So, ponder this as you juggle the joys and failures of life: maybe embracing the Sabbath is less about obligation and more about invitation... an invitation to embrace a rhythm that looks a lot less like the world’s idea of rest and a whole lot more like God’s.

Remember, you don’t have to earn anything or “do” your Sabbath perfectly. You’re already fully loved and redeemed by God through Jesus. The Sabbath was made for you as part of your redemption in Him.

Pause and Consider

Did you know that the Sabbath was made for you? Take two minutes and think about Jesus’ words. Are you ready to accept the weekly invitation of holy rest?
