Sweet Hour of Prayer

DAY 2 OF 5

The Power of Prayer

Have you ever experienced answered prayers, or have you ever seen prayer in action? When we experience the power of prayer, it has a way of encouraging us to come back to the place of prayer. Pray because your prayer is powerful. God gave us the example of Elijah and how he shut and opened heaven through the power of prayer. God is saying in essence, that in the place of prayer, you can change things and turn situations around. Yes, you can! You can pray, and the sick will be healed.

Prayer affords us the privilege of bringing God into our situation. Since everything is possible with God, then it is safe to say that everything is possible through prayer because prayer brings the God of all possibilities into the situation. I want you to realize that your prayers are powerful. One of my grandmother’s favourite songs at prayer time was a Yoruba song translated as, “We are the people who speak to God, and He listens. We are the people who speak to Him, and He hears. Elijah, Moses, and Daniel were humans like we are. We are the people who speak to God, and He listens.” You must realize that it is people like you who speak to God, and God listens and acts on their behalf. Let this truth follow you into your place of prayer with God and watch faith and power fill that space.

So, approach God beginning today, confident that it is people like you who speak to God, and He listens. It is people like you who decree things, and they happen. Prayer is powerful. Guess what? God is looking for, the Bible says, a man to stand in the gap. Confidently pray and stand in the gap for your family, your nation, your life. Whatever you forbid here on earth is forbidden in heaven. Whatever you permit here on earth is permitted in heaven. Notice how that verse shows us a secret. And the secret is that what makes heaven move is initiated here on earth by people like you and I. Prayer is powerful. And the power of prayer makes prayer enjoyable, sweet even.

Hymn:

Sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer!

The joys I feel, the bliss I share,

Of those whose anxious spirits burn,

With strong desires for thy return!

With such I hasten to the place,

Where God my Savior shows His face,

And gladly take my station there,

And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

About this Plan

Sweet Hour of Prayer

Have you ever felt like prayer is difficult? Are you convinced that there must be an alternative to prayer? True confession: I have been there, and it resulted in a personal quest for an alternative to prayer. What I discovered on my quest is what I will be sharing with you in this plan.
