3 Steps to Being a KINGDOM BUILDER in Your Life Today - Part 2Sýnishorn
Yesterday, we introduced the word “BLESS” as a guide to help you live as a Kingdom-building Christian in your daily life—at home, at work, and around town as well.
We saw that the letter “B” reminded you to “Begin with prayer.” If you didn’t already start today with prayer, take a few minutes just now to pray, thank God for your life, and reflect on it with Him.
Once you’ve started your day with prayer, the next step is captured by the letter “L,” which reminds you to “Listen and Look for opportunities” to BLESS someone.
The opportunity to BLESS someone may not always be immediately obvious – and that’s why it’s important to start the day with prayer.
In a way, your prayer before (and during) the day is like putting on “spiritual glasses” so that you might better see what God has in store for you and those with whom you interact.
With your “spiritual glasses” in place, you can more clearly see those “good works” that are already planned for you to do on that day, just as it says in Ephesians 2:10:
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. – Ephesians 2:10
Did you get that? Even before you woke up today, God already prepared those “good works” opportunities for you to BLESS others in the day ahead – at home, at work, or wherever you may find yourself.
And, since God already pre-arranges these opportunities, your responsibility is to spot them and do them.
Easier said than done, you might say, and rightly so!
But exactly what does it mean to BLESS someone?
Paul’s letters to the Galatians and the Colossians give some insight:
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. – Galatians 6:10
Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. – Colossians 4:5
The basic idea is pretty simple – you should do good towards others and be wise in how you act, especially when those you interact with may know that you are a Christian and are watching to see how you behave.
But what is this “good” that you should do? And how do you do it?
Actually, it isn’t possible for me or anyone else to tell you that... but if you are praying your way through the day, God Himself will tell you, by placing a prompting – an idea – in your mind on how to BLESS someone that day.
Following through on these promptings – which are God's messages to you regarding the "good works" that He has prepared in advance for you to do – is the exact place where your faith gets real. This is where your faith moves from theology into practice.
If you then seek to glorify God through your actions, He can and will make your faith real, and you will know exactly what He wants you to do and when to do it.
The question that remains is – will you follow through?
About this Plan
In this 3-part series, we uncover the three key guidewords to help you live your faith as a Kingdom Builder. Using our second guideword, “BLESS,” we uncover biblical principles behind each letter “B-L-E-S-S” to show the actions you can take to help build God’s Kingdom here on earth today. Transforming your faith into action as a Kingdom Builder has never been so clear and easy to do – at work, at home, or just around town.
