DAY 5 OF 5

Trusting in God's Strength

‘Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.’

(2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT)

Do you feel weak? Worn out? Overwhelmed by the burdens of abuse and suicidal thoughts? If this is the case for you right now, please know that God’s strength is made perfect in your weakness.

You do not have to muster up false strength of your own or put on a happy face when you are hurting. You don’t have to face your struggles alone. You can lean into God’s grace and allow His power to lift you up when you feel like you cannot go on.

What does this look like practically?

It means that when you feel like you cannot go on and that life is too hard to endure, if you turn your thoughts to God and ask Him to rescue you, by His grace, He will meet you in your darkest valley.

If God’s power is made perfect in weakness, trust that you can come to Him in the most broken and dejected state possible and He would still love you, restore you and show you mercy.

This 5-day devotional may have sounded to you like a lot of nice words and nice ideas to you, but I assure you, it is all true.

There is no other way to say it – God is love and He loves you! Suffering and surviving abuse may have made you question this fact but please, do not let the enemy of your soul (Satan) nor the devastating circumstances you have had to endure keep you from the greatest love of your life.

One way that we can connect with God in our weakness is to sing to Him in worship.

Why not spend time in worship today, focusing on God’s strength and sufficiency? Choose a worship song or hymn that reminds you of His power, and let it refresh your spirit. Lift your eyes and know that He can and will deliver you.

To finish this devotional, I would love to share a story of real-life hope in the midst of abusive circumstances. The content that has been shared is not just nice-sounding words. The name of Jesus can and will continue to rescue individuals in their darkest hour.

Introducing Raj’s story.
