Conclusion

John 3:16 is the most searched and well-known passage in the Bible and with good reason.

In just a few words, God has encapsulated His will and purpose for His people. He has shown His power and the power of believing in what He has achieved through Jesus's death and resurrection.

This verse shows God's ultimate plan for the salvation of mankind, and we are told that faith is the key to receiving all of God's promises. It is clear that from the beginning, since the fall of man, God planned to restore, redeem, and reconcile us to Himself. This verse tells us how and why He is doing that.

He identifies what we must believe to receive the promises. We should note that the promises on offer are not about the physical or worldly things of this life because the flesh is of no importance. God is offering us eternity…with Him. This is not something the world can give; it can only come from God. And best of all, it's free. We can’t buy it or do anything to deserve it. We can only receive and accept it as the free gift it is by faith and through God’s grace.

The depth of John 3:16 is so great that I doubt anyone will fully understand all that it contains. There is so much more to learn to understand the things covered in this short Bible plan, including grace, righteousness by faith, the work of the Holy Spirit, the fruit of the Spirit, freedom from sin, freedom from the law, the second coming, faith, repentance, baptism, resurrection, eternal judgement, laying on hands, and so much more.

The last six items in the list above have been identified in Hebrews 6:1-2 as foundational teachings. These are the foundations upon which Christianity is built and by which we can learn to live an overcoming life to attain the promises in John 3:16.
