Time

DAY 3 OF 5

When a seed has been planted, it takes time for it to germinate, grow, bear fruit, and for the fruit to ripen. Planting season is different from harvest season. As plants (fruits) are different, so are their gestational periods. Interestingly, we know and accept this regarding plants (fruits), but we sometimes don’t think it applies to us. Therefore, we are tempted to compare our lives and results to others. Perhaps because we are not getting the ‘results’ we expect. However, we can appreciate timing better when we observe created things (like the Bible tells us in Romans 1:20) and open our minds to deep spiritual truths. Your fruit will ripen in its own time. In other words, your results will come, wait for it.

Can you imagine a farmer with a cocoa farm comparing himself to his neighbour who has a corn farm? Not only is he comparing himself, but he is getting frustrated because he is not getting the same results his neighbour is getting (harvesting as often as his neighbour). Psalm 31:15 “My times are in Your hands…” (AMPC). Our struggles fade away when we understand that our times are in God’s hands and pay attention to what matters most. What matters most? As long as you remain planted by the “streams”, you will bear fruit and your fruit will ripen in its time. When you are positioned correctly and stay in sync with God’s Spirit, you most likely will never miss your timing.

It is also important to note that different things in our lives have different timing. Knowing this helps us yield to the process of things and makes us less vulnerable to interrupting the timing of things, as this can result in an abortion. Between the planting season and the harvest season is waiting time. Wait for the right time; do not abort the process. Ecclesiastes 3:11 “Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time…”. So, while it may not be time for what you are waiting for, it is always your time. We will delve deeper into this on day 4.

Never forget that your time and seasons are in God’s hands.
