Thanksgiving in Times of NeedSýnishorn
Day 1: Gratitude in Hard Times
In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, Paul tells us to “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” It can be hard to give thanks when times are tough, especially when financial burdens weigh heavily on our hearts. But Paul’s encouragement to give thanks in all circumstances isn’t about denying our struggles; it’s about choosing to focus on God’s goodness in the midst of them.
Gratitude during tough times is an act of faith. When we thank God even when things are hard, we remind ourselves of His faithfulness and His ability to provide. Gratitude shifts our perspective from our problems to His promises. It opens our eyes to see how God is already at work in ways we might not have noticed.
Take time today to thank God for His presence in your life, even in your current financial situation. Choose to focus on the ways He has been faithful to you in the past and trust that He will continue to be faithful now.
Reflection Questions:
• What are some ways God has shown His faithfulness to you in difficult times?
• How can gratitude help you shift your focus from financial stress to God’s provision?
• What does it look like to give thanks in all circumstances, not just the good ones?
