There's Hope With the HealerSýnishorn
There’s a truth we see over and over again in the Gospels: when broken, hurting, lost people are brought to the Healer… they never leave the same.
I know that’s my story. There was a time in my life when I was desperate for healing.
Like a lot of people, I started experimenting with drugs as a teenager, never intending to become an addict. I didn’t know what I was doing to my brain or my body—I was just trying to fit in and do what everyone else was doing, numbing an internal pain I didn’t even know I had.
But as the years went by, it took more and more to numb that pain. I went from marijuana to meth and then, by the age of 25, I began abusing prescription pills, telling myself they were helping me get more work done. After all, I was a functioning, always-working, driven person. I never got arrested, I was never homeless—I was never even unemployed.
But I was an addict. It didn’t take long for me to go from taking a few pills in the morning to start my day, to adding a few after lunch to get that reset, to popping a handful every night to find that buzz I needed to completely block out the world. I became the worst possible version of myself: a liar, a manipulator, a cheater, someone who would do whatever I needed to do to get that next fix until I was consuming 50 pills a day, isolated, with a trail of wrecked relationships behind me.
But I’m so grateful to serve a God who is willing to step into our pain, to crawl into our moments of misery, and to pick us up after our greatest defeats.
There’s no place His Grace can’t reach.
There’s no misery His Mercy won’t heal.
There’s no darkness that can withstand the Power of His Light.
I’m so grateful for the Hope that comes with the Healer.
I’ll tell you the rest of my story tomorrow, and then we’ll start to dig into how MY story can speak to YOUR story.

About this Plan
Sometimes hope comes in the form of friends who will tear the roof off a house to get you in front of The Healer. And sometimes it comes in the words The Healer says to you after that. Lance Lang knows the Power of Hope firsthand; here he unpacks some of his story of addiction and recovery to show how there's always Hope with The Healer.
