Day 1: Returning to Your First Love
Revelation 2:4-5: But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first.
A couple of years ago, I felt the pressures of life had caused me to drift from God. I was so caught up in my responsibilities that I didn’t realize how distant I had become from Him due to my office work. I remember that I couldn't go to church for two years because of my job, and working 12-hour days left me so tired. I got involved in things that drew me further away from the Lord. During those years, things worsened—I experienced so much loss: losing loved ones, my health, and even my job.
Then one day, on my way to the office, the Lord spoke to my heart: “For apart from me, you can do nothing.” This shook me deeply. I cried out to the Lord, repented, and began to feel His love again.
When you first encounter God’s love, there is a fire, a zeal, and a joy. But over time, distractions, pressures, and routines can cause you to drift away. Take some time today to remember your early love for the Lord and reflect on how your relationship with Him has changed. Ask God to show you areas where you have fallen and how you can return to the passion you once had.
