Reading With the People of God - #6 LOVESýnishorn
Memorization Challenge:1 Corinthians 13:11-13
When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
Reading Primer: Choosing Trust and Faithfulness in Christ
As you read today’s scriptures, reflect on how you choose to trust Christ and live faithfully in Him. In Psalm 31, David places his life in God’s hands, declaring, “Into Your hands, I commit my spirit,” a foreshadowing of Christ’s words on the cross. This trust in God’s deliverance points us to the ultimate security and hope we have in Jesus, who gave His life for us and rose again to secure our salvation.
Deuteronomy 30:11-20 challenges us to choose life by loving and obeying the Lord. Through Christ, we are given the power to live in obedience, and the choice between life and death is fulfilled in Him. Jesus calls us to follow Him, take up our cross, and walk in the abundant life He offers through faith and grace.
In 1 Thessalonians 1, Paul praises the church for their faith in Christ, transforming their lives and making them a powerful example of hope and endurance. Their commitment to Christ, even in hardship, reflects the strength that comes from living fully for Him.
These passages remind us that true trust and faithfulness come through Christ, who calls us to follow Him wholeheartedly.
Prayer of Illumination:
Lord Jesus, as we read Your Word today, help us to see how we can trust You more fully. Strengthen our faith to follow You in all things, choosing life and hope in Your name. Guide us by Your Spirit to live faithfully, reflecting Your love and grace. Amen.
About this Plan
This is the sixth part of a reading plan through the Bible, following the lectionary pattern of reading in the Psalms, Old Testament, and New Testament each day. In addition, each day this month will feature a memorization challenge for 1 Corinthians 13 (The Love Chapter), and there will be brief devotionals from different people in our Church scattered throughout the plan.
