Reading With the People of God - #6 LOVE

DAY 2 OF 31

Memorization Challenge: 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Reading Primer: A life of purity and trust.

Today's readings all point to one central theme: God calls us to live in purity and trust. In Psalms 3-4, David demonstrates how to trust God for protection in the face of danger and adversity. His confidence in God’s sustaining power reminds us that true peace comes from trusting Him, even in life’s most challenging moments.

Deuteronomy 16:1-8 highlights the Passover, calling Israel to remember God's deliverance from Egypt. This festival isn't just a historical reminder but a call to remember that God is faithful and has saved us, setting us apart for a holy purpose.

In 1 Corinthians 5, Paul’s call to remove sin from the church emphasizes purity within the body of Christ. Sin isn’t just an individual issue—it affects the entire community of believers. Paul reminds us that as we reflect on God’s deliverance, we must also strive to live holy lives, removing anything that hinders our walk with Him.

These passages together remind us to trust God, remember His deliverance, and commit to holiness in our personal lives and communities. As we reflect on these truths, may we seek God's help in living lives that are pure, faithful, and filled with His peace.

About this Plan

Reading With the People of God - #6 LOVE

This is the sixth part of a reading plan through the Bible, following the lectionary pattern of reading in the Psalms, Old Testament, and New Testament each day. In addition, each day this month will feature a memorization challenge for 1 Corinthians 13 (The Love Chapter), and there will be brief devotionals from different people in our Church scattered throughout the plan.
