GOD’S BROADCASTING TEAM
I love this quote by an anonymous author. “Creation is the canvas on which God has painted his character.” In other words, God’s purpose for creation is to reveal Himself to us.
The most common way to reveal something to someone else is to simply say it. Like in God’s Word, the Bible. He tells us over and over what He wants us to know about Him. He tells us what He values most (Micah 6:8). He explains to us what He is planning for the world He has created (Isaiah 65:17). But most of the time He just tells us how much He loves us (Psalm 136).
Unfortunately, human ears often need more than normal words to understand what God is trying to say. That is when He mobilizes other members of his team. For example, a donkey. “Then the Lord gave the donkey the ability to speak. ‘What have I done to you that deserves your beating me three times?’” (Numbers 22:28, NLT).
In the same way, human mouths can also fail to bring God’s message across. But that won’t stop Him. “He replied, ‘If they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers’” (Luke 19:40, NLT).
Do you believe that everything in creation was made for God’s purposes? Has God ever revealed something to you through nature?
Over the next few days, we will look into some of the ways in the Old and New Testament that God deployed creation to reveal Himself to us. And I hope that you will find Him in a brand new way when you enjoy nature this Spring.
”The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make Him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world” (Psalm 19:1-4, NLT).
About this Plan
Are you someone who feels closer to God when you spend time in nature? Has God ever revealed Himself to you through animals, plants, or other parts of creation? In this plan, we will explore how all creation forms part of one team to God’s glory.
