You Are Not Alone

DAY 1 OF 3

Many of us fall into the trap of believing that we are better off alone.

Except – of course, we are not and if we are being completely honest with ourselves, this belief is a coping mechanism we use to lessen the pain of trials or the hurt of broken relationships.

Loneliness is one of the most harrowing emotions a person can experience. Indeed, the most efficient way to describe the phenomenon is as an aching pain with sharp pangs that numb a person to their very core.

A contradicting statement, yes. But this paradoxical definition perfectly sums up the conflicting emotions this feeling produces in a person. Since loneliness is both a feeling and state of being, an individual could be seated in a room filled with thousands of other people and still feel the stark, distinct pain of utter solitude.

So what remedy does God propose to address a widespread human emotion that is both multifaceted and exclusive to each individual? His Word. Yes, loneliness may feel like a dark gloomy cloud that follows you everywhere, but King David states in Psalms 23:4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Over the next three days, we will explore loneliness and God's approach to handling this emotion.
