The Bible for Regular People: Colossians

DAY 5 OF 5

Colossians 4

Colossians chapter 4 calls us to live a life of Godly wisdom. The apostle Paul encourages us to act and speak with grace so that we make the most of every opportunity, especially with those who are not followers of Christ.

As followers of Christ, we are called to be intentional in our interactions, showing kindness and grace to everyone we encounter. Our words should not only reflect the truth of the gospel but also convey Christ's love and compassion. In a world where words can wound or heal, our speech should be a source of encouragement and hope.

Paul also encourages prayer as a vital aspect of our Christian life. He requests that the believers pray that God would continue to open up opportunities for the message of Jesus to go forth and that the message of Christ would be proclaimed clearly and effectively. Prayer is not only a means of communication with God but also a powerful tool for advancing the kingdom of God and ministering to those who do not yet know Him.

Furthermore, Paul highlights the importance of wisdom in how we conduct ourselves with other believers. He commends several faithful followers of Jesus who are helping to spread the message of Jesus to the surrounding areas. Their examples remind us of the value of reliability and commitment in serving God and His people in the community.

As we reflect on Colossians chapter 4, let us be challenged to live with wisdom and grace in our interactions with others. And let us be reminded to take prayer seriously. May our words and actions bear witness to the love of Christ and seize every opportunity to share our hope in Him. Let us be faithful stewards of the gospel, committed to building up one another and advancing God’s kingdom here on earth. In doing so, may Paul’s words in verse 17 also echo in our hearts: “Be sure to carry out the ministry the Lord gave you.”
