Hatred Towards Israel and the Jewish PeopleSýnishorn
Praying for Israel
I hope you have discovered through this reading plan that hatred towards Israel is at its root hatred towards God. The history of the Jewish people is one of struggle, persecution, and deep valleys. Yet God stands by His promises and He promises His blessing to those who bless Israel. So it is good to pray for Israel every day.
Why? First, for God Himself: In the Bible God shows again and again how much He cares for and loves His people. You can read an example of this in Jeremiah 31. God is full of love for His people. Praying for Israel is a prayer after God's own heart!
Besides this, prayer is a weapon. In recent days you have read more about hatred towards Israel. At its root, this is a spiritual war: Satan is trying to hit God in as many ways as he can and is aiming his arrows at God's people, the apple of His eye. So praying for Jerusalem and for Israel is an important weapon in this battle. After all, a righteous person's powerful prayer accomplishes much (James 5:16)!
Finally, it is a Biblical command! Psalm 122:6 says, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” So let's do just that!
What can you pray for? Here are some prayer points:
- Pray for peace for the Jewish people: for God’s protection from all threats from nations and organizations that seek to destroy them.
- Pray for the return of Jews from around the world to Israel.
- Pray for the speedy coming of the Messiah, the Jewish Jesus.
- Pray for the Christian Church to recognize the special place Israel has in God's plan for the world.

About this Plan
Israel has been hated as a people throughout the ages. Even before they entered the land of Israel, King Balak hired the prophet Balaam to curse the people. Later Haman sought to destroy the Jews. Antisemitism has taken various forms throughout the centuries. Unfortunately, it was often fueled from within the Church. Where does this aversion to Israel even come from?
