Take Your Mouth Off That

DAY 1 OF 3

Watch Your Mouth!

Have you ever found yourself itching to comment or give your opinion on someone else’s situation? It’s so easy to get caught up in the drama of others’ lives, isn’t it? But sis, let me tell you something: the Holy Spirit doesn’t need our help in pointing out what’s wrong in someone else’s life! Today, we’re diving into a crucial lesson about watching our mouths and letting God be God in every situation.

James 1:19-20 (NIV) “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.”

When we feel the urge to comment or judge, let’s pause and remember these words from James. It’s not about suppressing our thoughts but about aligning them with God’s heart. Sometimes, what we think is helpful may not be what God intends for that person’s journey.

Proverbs 17:28 reminds us that even a fool appears wise when they keep their mouth shut. It’s a gentle nudge to practice discernment in our words. Matthew 7:1-5 challenges us to first examine ourselves before pointing out others’ faults. And, Ephesians 4:29 encourages us to speak words that build others up, reflecting the grace we’ve received.

Let’s commit today to asking the Holy Spirit for discernment before we speak. Let’s choose words that bring life and encouragement, leaving judgment and criticism at the door. God’s got this, and He’s working in ways we can’t always see!
