Does the Holy Spirit Matter?
Two months after I surrendered my heart to Christ, I was filled with the Holy Spirit for the first time. When you come to Christ, the Holy Spirit comes to live inside of you—but when you cry out to be filled by the power of the Holy Spirit, there is a fresh infilling of God's presence to the point of overflow. This experience is critical to your walk with Christ!
Jesus said in His final words before ascending into Heaven in Acts 1:8, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
As Jesus said this, the disciples were about to bring the Gospel out into their culture—which was hostile to the message of Christ… much like today. If they needed the power of the Holy Spirit to be a witness, so do we!!
Friend, we can’t live the Christian life in our strength, resolve, and willpower. Christianity is meant to be lived out only in the power of the Holy Spirit! Paul said it this way in Galatians 5:22-23, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control…
I encourage you today—call upon the Holy Spirit and ask Him to fill you afresh! You won’t regret it.
As you engage with God’s Word, ask:
● What is God saying to me?
● What does it mean to me?
● How can I apply what God is teaching me?
● How can I be specific in prayer today?
After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.
