How to Overcome the Fear of Evangelism?Sýnishorn
Identify what exactly you are afraid of
There are three main fears for Christians in the context of evangelism.
The first one is insufficient knowledge. Christians fear being asked about something they don't know and won't be able to answer. Don't be upset, but with a high probability... it will happen. You may have two master's degrees and a defended doctorate in theology, but sometimes a child can ask a question you won't be able to answer. Don't be afraid of this because you can't know everything. What's more important here is how you react to such a situation. It's not difficult at all to be honest and say simple words: 'I don't know the answer to that question' or: 'Let me explore this and get back to you.'
The second common fear is the fear of failure. People are afraid they might do more harm than good. But successful evangelism is sharing the Good News about Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and leaving the results to God. We cannot change anyone's heart. That's the work of the Holy Spirit.
The biggest issue for many Christians is the fear of rejection. They fear that acquaintances or friends will turn away from them upon learning they are believers. In such a case, we need to honestly ask ourselves what is more important to us: the approval of people or God?
