God's Covenants With Israel

DAY 4 OF 6

Day 4 – The Promise of the Land

In the covenant that God made with Abraham and his descendants, God says that He will also give them the land of Canaan: “To your offspring, I will give this land.” (Genesis 12:7). We come across this promise of land several times in the book of Genesis, including when the Lord promises the land to Isaac and Jacob. At the end of the book of Genesis, we read that on his deathbed, Joseph even asked his family to bury his bones in the Promised Land.

So, the land that God gives Israel plays an important role in the rest of Biblical history. Of course, the exodus from Egypt is all about living in the land, and almost all of Biblical history takes place in Israel. That is where the Lord Jesus was born, where He died on the cross, where He rose from the dead, and where He will return.

The Bible is not a theoretical or philosophical book; it is about actual, earthly events. Everything we believe in happened there in Israel. The Bible also predicts what will happen: God will continue with His story, bringing salvation, healing, and restoration to this world. Israel still plays a key role in this. It is where Jesus, the Messiah, will come and take His place on the throne of His father, David.

We see in our time how Jews from around the world are returning to Israel, the land that God promised them. Pray for their return today.
