Adventure to Live
Risk is very much tied to the masculine journey. Even more, it is tied to our faith in God. It is in risk that we come alive. The journey into the unknown stirs something deep within. God is very serious about the risks we take. It is in the risks that we grow in our faith and become equipped for adventure and battles that our Father will call us to.
There are different kinds of risks that we take. Good risks, bad risks, necessary risks, and unnecessary risks. Yet in our masculine journey, we need risks. We need the adventure that risk brings to foster masculine maturity. A guide for risk-taking is to take risks that move us in the right direction. Additionally, desire that is grounded in walking with God is a balance for taking risks in the right direction.
It is very important that we put failure in the correct perspective in relation to taking risks. As men, failing is often something we avoid at all costs. Failure or even the thought of failure can spur the return to posing. We MUST change that perspective. Fear of failure is another attack from a very real enemy focused on your defeat. My perspective on risk and failure was really solidified by a quote from Craig Groeschel: “Failure isn’t an option. Failure is an expectation.” When you are taking risks in the right direction, failure is a springboard. Failure spurs the next risk, the next adventure. Failure in the right perspective releases us to desire. Avoiding risk for fear of failure is something that Jesus spoke against in the strongest way possible.
