Living in His Peace

DAY 3 OF 3

In a world filled with conflict and strife, the Call to be a Peacemaker stands out as both challenging and profoundly important. Jesus proclaims a special blessing for those who actively pursue Peace. He calls them "sons of God," highlighting the divine nature of this pursuit. Similarly, believers are encouraged in Romans to strive for Peace with everyone, emphasizing personal responsibility in maintaining harmonious relationships.

The Beatitudes of Peacemakers

Jesus' declaration, "Blessed are the peacemakers," identifies Peace as a key characteristic of the Kingdom of God. To be a Peacemaker is not to avoid conflict but to actively work towards reconciliation and harmony. It requires a heart aligned with God's Desires, seeking to mirror His Love and Compassion in your interactions.

As daughters and sons of God, you are called to reflect His Character. God is the Ultimate Peacemaker, reconciling Humanity to Himself through Christ. In your pursuit of Peace, you follow His Example, bringing His Light into a world darkened by division and hostility.

Living Peaceably with All

Human relationships are complex. Peace is not always achievable due to the actions and attitudes of others. However, the responsibility is on you to do everything within your power to foster Peace.

This pursuit involves humility, patience, and sometimes sacrifice. It means choosing to forgive, to let go of grudges, and to seek understanding over being understood. It requires you to prioritize relationships over being right and to extend Grace even when it's undeserved.

Practical Steps to Pursue Peace

1. Pray for a Peacemaker's Heart: Ask God to cultivate a spirit of Peace within you. Pray for the wisdom and strength to be a Peacemaker in your daily life.

2. Seek Reconciliation: When conflicts arise, take the initiative to resolve them. Approach others with a spirit of humility and a genuine desire for reconciliation.

3. Practice Forgiveness: Holding onto resentment hinders Peace. Choose to forgive, remembering that Christ forgave us even while we were still sinners.

4. Communicate with Love: Speak the truth in love, avoiding harsh words and unnecessary arguments. Strive to understand others' perspectives and respond with kindness.

5. Set Boundaries When Necessary: Pursuing Peace doesn't mean allowing others to mistreat you. Establish healthy boundaries to protect your well-being while maintaining a peaceful attitude.

Think it Over

Reflect on areas in your life where Peace is lacking. Are there relationships that need healing? Are there conflicts you've avoided addressing? Ask God for the courage to pursue Peace actively.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Calling me to be a Peacemaker and for giving me the Example of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Help me to reflect Your Peace in my life and to strive for harmony in my relationships. Give me the wisdom to navigate conflicts with Grace and the courage to seek reconciliation. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
