7 Devotions to Lead Day by Day and Night by NightSýnishorn
Continuing to Lead
Imagine this: from the time Nehemiah arrived at Jerusalem and began the work, he completed rebuilding the wall in fifty-two days. This was a gigantic accomplishment. It was a glory to God ultimately but also an outstanding achievement of people working together under the leadership of Nehemiah. One of his most remarkable leadership qualities was his continuing to lead. He had an extraordinary gift to follow through and complete the task. Continuing to lead until a task is finished is one of the unique and distinguishing marks in leadership.
Great leaders not only start well but also finish well. Nothing is more discouraging than to follow someone who rarely completes the entire task given to them. Trust diminishes when this occurs. When you study great leaders and their leadership, you will discover that they do what they say they will do. They under promise and overdeliver. When you do not continue in leadership or follow through on fulfilling your promises, people will begin to question your integrity. When people cannot count on you, everything changes.
Do you continue to lead and follow through until all is completed? How well are you doing on following through and continuing in your leadership?
Declare: I will continue to lead until all is completed.
Lord, empower me to always continue and follow through in leadership. Amen.
