What the Bible Says About Generosity

DAY 3 OF 30

A Generous God

If you had a pen and a piece of paper right now, could you list out five things you’re grateful for? How about 10?

Your gratitude list might include something as small as having food in your fridge, or something as big as the healing of a family member who was sick.

The reality is, if we're looking every day, we can find something to be grateful for. Each of these blessings is simply the result of the grace and generosity of God. Even our life itself, the air we breathe and the world we live in are undeserved gifts from our Creator.

Jesus demonstrated incredible generosity throughout His life. He fed the hungry, healed the sick, and welcomed the undeserving. In His most generous act, He willingly surrendered Himself to endure a death He didn’t deserve on a cross meant for us. This ultimate act of selflessness reflects the depth of God's generosity and love for us (Romans 8:32).

When we focus our hearts on gratitude and thankfulness for who God is and what He's done, we naturally become more generous people. This is because generosity begins with our mentality — not our money.

If you want to become more generous, make time to read God's Word. Spend time in His presence. Ask the Lord to make you aware of His generosity in your own life, and prioritise practising gratitude each day.

Be encouraged that you can trust God's generosity, and He will continue to provide for your needs. This assurance allows us to give freely and generously, knowing that our Heavenly Father will bless us in return.

We love others because God first loved us (1 John 4:19). We can give generously of our time and resources because He has already given us so much.

This week, ask God to show you specific ways you can reflect His love and generosity to others, knowing He is a generous God whose love never runs out.
