Made for More: Finding Greater Purpose Through Scripture's Well-Known Personalities

DAY 6 OF 8

Sometimes, accepting that you are made for more just requires a simple yes. You say yes to what God has for you, and then you let His creative design do all the rest of the work.

When the Angel Gabriel appeared before Mary with good tidings of great joy—that she was going to be the mother of the Messiah—she simply had to say yes and then let that little embryo develop in her womb until it was time to give birth.

Of course, one thing we don’t really read much about in scripture is the intense labor that comes with delivering and raising a child, let alone the life disruption that comes simply from being pregnant.

But Mary said yes to motherhood with all that entails, including changing diapers (or whatever its ancient equivalent was), losing sleep, household labors, and all the thousands of daily sacrifices that moms make for their kids… right up to the point where she had to watch her beloved son die on a cross as an innocent man.

There was a lot behind Mary’s yes, behind her quiet acceptance that she was made for more. But all her life flowed from that yes, and it became immeasurably brighter, richer, and more significant simply because an angel came to her and told her God had made her for more.

Will you accept that truth? Will you say yes to what God is making you for? Will you follow it through?
