The Morning Hunt

DAY 6 OF 14

The Morning Hunt – Day Six – Tail Tell

A lion's tail is purposeful for balance and, more so, nonverbal communication. Others can often tell his mood by the movement of that tail, using it as a warning of its foul mood. A mother lion will wiggle her tail to get her cubs to follow her. Lions will use their tails for communication when hunting prey when their voices would give them away.

What does your non-verbal communication say to others? Do we roar aloud but have no balance in how others really see us from afar? I recently learned that my children are sensitive to my nonverbal communication, even when I did not intend them to. My daughter recently told me that I seemed irritated while we were at a family lunch. I was irritated, but I never intended for my children to point it out (especially in public).

Maybe it is not children, but someone following you is reading your nonverbal cues. If a picture paints a thousand words, what is your disposition saying? Our workplaces are not always friendly to our faith and our convictions to the point we do not verbally share our faith; still, people watch what we do more than what we say. Let others see your faith when they cannot hear it, and it is more effective anyhow.

2 Corinthians 3:2-3 NLT - 2 The only letter of recommendation we need is you yourselves. Your lives are a letter written in our[a] hearts; everyone can read it and recognize our good work among you. 3 Clearly, you are a letter from Christ showing the result of our ministry among you. This “letter” is written not with pen and ink, but with the Spirit of the living God. It is carved not on tablets of stone, but on human hearts.

James 2:18 ESV - But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

Matthew 7:16-17 NLT - 16 You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit.

About this Plan

The Morning Hunt

The King of the Jungle. The symbol of Jesus and Kingdoms throughout history. The lion is one of the most majestic and awe-inspiring animals on the planet. Just as the lion is unique and designed to reign, so is God’s design for Manhood. The Morning Hunt is a 14-day Men’s Devotional that looks to teach valuable and practical lessons from a lion’s perspective.
