Surrender 101Sýnishorn
Surrender puts you in a lot of tight spots you never thought you would face, and suddenly, those moments have the potential to become holy. Is God calling you to go to a certain mission field or specific location or to be a part of a justice movement? If you feel insecure about a lack of skill, you're exactly who God can use for your circumstance and situation. Never doubt what God can do through you. God calls you into moments where you won’t feel capable. Yet, God is calling you to do His work. You're the perfect person that God needs to move through. You see, Abraham, Noah, Moses, Joseph, Naomi, Ruth, the Prodigal Son, Daniel, Elijah, Paul, and even Jesus’ disciples didn’t always feel equipped, but they still surrendered everything and followed God.
Surrender can be immensely helpful for several reasons. When we release our worries to God, we entrust Him with our concerns. This action can bring a sense of relief as we let go of the weight we've been carrying on our shoulders. Our release to God shifts our perspective. It reminds us that we're not alone in facing life's challenges, and we have a Good Shepherd who cares and can handle our worries far better than we can.
Handing over our worries to God is an act of trust. It's a way of acknowledging His sovereignty and wisdom, trusting He knows what's best for us and will provide for our needs. Submitting our worries to God can bring a sense of peace. Even if our circumstances don't change immediately, knowing that God is in control and we've placed our concerns in His hands can calm our anxious hearts. Releasing our worries to God is a spiritual practice that fosters faith and reliance on Him. It deepens our relationship with God as we learn to depend on Him more fully.
Releasing worries to God is not about avoiding problems or pretending everything is fine. Instead, it's about acknowledging our limitations and trusting in God's ability to carry us through our challenges. It's a powerful practice that brings comfort, strength, and a renewed hope amidst life's uncertainties.
