Restart

DAY 14 OF 28

At the end of every week, we'll give you a challenge—something to try that might be outside your regular routine. Each challenge is designed to help you develop one important spiritual habit. This week, it's...

SPEND TIME WITH OTHERS

The people in our lives can have a big impact on our faith—and we can have a big impact on other people's faith too. But that doesn't happen by accident. Today's challenge is going to help you connect with at least one other person in a way that helps you (or maybe even both of you) grow!

CHALLENGE

When we're feeling overwhelmed, giving us healthy relationships is one of the ways God cares for us. But healthy relationships require work on our end, too!

  1. JUST HANG OUT: Sometimes, when we're feeling overwhelmed, our first response is to isolate ourselves from other people. Take time this week to have fun with friends doing something unrelated to what's causing you stress. Go bowling, eat a meal, or play video games.
  2. TRY A HOBBY TOGETHER: Sometimes, when we feel overwhelmed, we need a change of pace or a fresh perspective. Learning a new skill or doing an activity can help. Invite a friend to sign up for a class or volunteer somewhere you're both curious to know more about.
  3. ASK FOR ADVICE: God gives us other people to help us not feel alone. Ask a mentor or friend out for coffee. Let them know what's happening and ask if they've ever felt similarly. If so, ask what they did to get out of their feelings of being out of control or overwhelmed.

About this Plan

Restart

In video games, when you face challenges and make mistakes there's always the option to start over. In real life, it's not so easy to recover, but Jesus gives us a chance to restart — no matter how difficult our circumstances. In this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll look at people who needed God's help to give them a restart and discover how to trust God's promises.
