Seven Reasons to Not Fear

DAY 1 OF 7

Unafraid

“And all the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you.” (Deuteronomy 28:10)

If we are called by the name of the Lord, we have no reason to fear His enemies. This would demonstrate a weak-spirited attitude and reflect disbelief rather than faith. God can transform us to be so much like Himself that people will be compelled to recognize that we rightly bear His name and truly belong to Him. Oh, may we receive this grace which the Lord eagerly wants to bestow upon us!

Rest assured, the ungodly fear the true saints. They harbor hatred towards them, yet they also harbor fear. Their animosity often stems from a deep-seated dread they are too proud to acknowledge. Let us walk the path of truth and integrity without the slightest hint of fear. Fear is not for us, but for those who do wrong and oppose the Lord of hosts.

If indeed the name of the eternal God is upon us, we are secure. Just as in ancient times, a Roman could claim the protection of all the legions of the vast empire simply by saying "Romanus sum, I am a Roman," so too does everyone who belongs to God have the Almighty as his guardian. God would sooner empty heaven of angels than leave a saint defenseless.

Be braver than lions in doing what is right, for God is with you.

About this Plan

Seven Reasons to Not Fear

‘Fear not!’ is an encouragement encountered often in the Bible. This series of devotionals explores seven reasons not to fear. They take you to the prophets, psalms, history of the Old Testament and encouragement found in the New Testament to convince you of God’s power over anything that may cause us to fear. These devotionals were written by the great preacher C.H. Spurgeon, and updated to modern English.
